AGNOLO BRONZINO
THE COURT PAINTER
OF THE MEDICI
Agnolo di Cosimo di Mariano, a, called Bronzino, (* November 17, 1503 in Monticelli, a present-day district of Florence, † November 23, 1572 in Florence) was an Italian painter of mannerism known for his frescoes, altarpieces and allegorical and mythological scenes. He distinguished himself above all as an outstanding portrait painter.
ETERNAL LIGHT
THE HOLY
FAMILY
Again and again Bronzino painted the holy family. A particularly impressive work shows Mary together with St. John the Baptist. The painting, which was created in the early 1540s, was acquired by Count Stroganow at the beginning of the 19th century.

ELEONORA
DE TOLEDO
One of Bronzino's most famous portraits shows Eleonora of Toledo, married as a seventeen-year-old to Cosimo I, the Duke of Tuscany, with her son Giovanni. The mother's expression reflects both care and pride.
