ABOUT

Amedeo Clemente Modigliani (born July 12, 1884 in Livorno, † January 24, 1920 in Paris) was an Italian draftsman, painter and sculptor. The current reputation is based mainly on his highly distinctive nudes with the typical long necks and faces. Most of his life Amedeo Modigliani had little success with his art, because his works did not belong to the great new trends in art, but showed a personal style: Today Modigliani painting are among the most expensive works of art in the world.

THE BEAUTY OF INTIMACY

LA BELLE
ROMAINE

One of Amedeo Modigliani's most acknowledged works  painted in 1917. A great sensuality goes out of the painting. Physicality is central, but at the same time Modigliani knows how to give it something ideal through his sculptural elaboration. The painting is part of a private collection, after it was sold for 68.9 million US dollars in 2010 at auction house Sotheby's.
