Antonello da Messina, (* 1429/1430 in Messina, † 1479) was an Italian painter, who of the mid-15th century.  Antonello is  most acknowledged for combining the light, the mood and the attention to detail of Flemish painting with the monumental,
rational spatiality of the Italian school. His portraits are famous for
their liveliness and psychological depth.

A very unusual Madonna depiction attributed to the master of the early Italian Renaissance, Antonello da Messina. Particularly striking are the doll-like child and the richly decorated golden crown, which is held by angels above the head of Mary.
